Collection: Mounted Aroids

This impressive family includes 140 genera with 3,700 species. All are characterized by the inflorescence (flower structure) which consists of a spadix and often surrounded by a modified leaf called a spathe, a typical example of their flower is that of the 'Peace Lily'.  Aroids can be aquatic, epiphytic or terrestrial, whilst Latin American regions have the greatest diversity of aroids, they can also be found in Asia, Europe and Australia. Often grown for their foliage, they are very popular as house plants and sought after by plant collectors.
